The Yagrumo tree is very special in this rain forest.

After hurricanes and major storms the forest is ravaged by 140 MPH winds for days.

Then the Yagrumo tree comes to help since it GROWS VERY FAST - and quickly covers the recovering forest and specially barren landslides.

After such storms there can appear over 1,000 landslides in El Yunque due to an incredibly heavy rain. The typical rain here is 200 inches a year on the upper forest or also called the cloud forest. There the Yagrumo grows too, but smaller.
